A Family Of Racing

My father, Fred Colvin, was an amature jockey and trainer and his brothers Noel and John were professional Jockeys. I moved from Tullibigeal (Western Districts) to work in Wagga in 1973. When Fred moved to Wagga from Tullibigeal where he trained a small team of horses, we teamed up and purchased land opposite the Wagga Racecourse in 1984 and built 6 stables. We then increased the stables capacity to 12 in 1986. This is when Fred retired, and I took over the reins, only hobby training and renting some boxes out to friends. It wasn’t until horses started to increase I decided to train full-time, building a new stable complex in 2004 to accomodate for the increase in our team. Now we are equipped with an indoor horse swimming pool and a 10 horse walker.

Not only do we have individual owners we also syndicate horses out. We purchase yearlings every year and lease them out for syndication making it more affordable for clients.
